I had an older Timex Expedition watch that, unfortunately, used leather bands that were special order and would break in six months. After going through six bands, I decided to buy this newer Timex Expedition watch that used a synthetic band and what looks to be a band that can be replaced with a department store

band if needed.
The only feature missing in this watch that I had in my older Expedition watch is a digital compass. But I have a hand held GPS and a compass built into my smart phone so that's not an important feature to me. The watch keeps excellent time. I'm a happy camper.
This was a replacement for another Timex Expedition model that is no longer available. I keep buying the Expedition since I have owned one for at least 15 years and now know what all the buttons do. I can work it with my eyes closed. I like the size of the display and the brightness of the Indiglo when used in the dark. I did take off the compass. It's not really necessary when most cell phones have a compass feature built in. It did require that I remove the buckle. It was easy enough to do. But you could also just cut it off. My last Expedition worked for almost 4 years. I hope this one has an equally long battery life.
