After having this watch for several weeks now and reading several poor reviews before I purchased I thought it was time for my personal experience with this watch. So far it has been a very positive experience. I've had no trouble whatsoever with it. It keeps great time, the band is very well made and comfortable, the
hardware has held up to daily wear and the Indiglo feature works great. I read in some negative reviews that the Indiglo feature stopped working after a few hours to a few days. That has not been my experience. I've beat this watch in my everyday work life and everything still works as normal. I also read several reviews that complained about the dark area in the Indiglo feature at 6 o'clock on the dial. That is normal and part of the design of the feature. It in no way interferes with the function of the Indiglo. I also read some negative comments about the strap becoming frayed at the holes and edges. I have a simple fix for that. Take a lighter and singe the holes and the edge of the band and you will not have anymore frayed edges. For the money this is a well made rugged watch. If you are on the fence it is my experience that this is a great value and no worries should be given to the negative comments you read. Besides, if there is a problem Amazon will make it right. Good luck and buy with confidence.

The elegance is it's simplicity.
The elegance is it's simplicity. The watch I bought has a black face and gray case. The Arabic numbers are generally easy to read, but the contrast and size of the numbers isn't as great as Timex's Easy Reader line. The printing on the face is actually a very light gray and not as white as it appears in some of the photos. Those who have aging eyes like mine may have some difficulty reading the watch as ambient light fades. The hour and minute hands are phosphorescent, but their brightness/contrast depends on ambient lighting and preceding "charge." The Indiglo works best in very low light as it only faintly illuminates the watch face with the numbers and hands appearing dark. (Remember that the watch face is intrinsically dark, so it doesn't let as much "glow" across as would a lighter-colored watch face.) However, I'm not taking any stars away for the above. The watch is elegantly simple, just the right size, accurate, readable, water resistant to 50m, uses the commonly available CR2016 button battery. This has become my everyday-wear and travel watch. (The watch band is made of a nice and supple genuine leather, but I replaced mine with a ArtStyle NATO-type watch band for better durability under constant hand washing, swimming, outdoor sports, etc
Love This Watch
I decided to start wearing a watch again because I think it's convenient and looks good. I own a few Timex watches with leather bands but over time the weather has gotten that wrinkled look to it in the places where it's bent so I decided to get a new watch. I was skeptical about they nylon strap band because I thought it might not be as comfortable as the leather but that's definitely not the case. I love wearing this watch and I like the color. I think it looks darker in my pictures but it works with most things. I still wear it even when it doesn't. A big seller was for me was that this is also water resistant and seems to be able to take a beating. I've banged it on the sides of doors, walls, you name it (by accident of course) and there are no scratches on the lense. I can also attest to the water resistance because I recently was fishing and wading through the stream when I slipped on a rock and fell face forward. I caught myself with my hand but went up to my elbows into the water and the watch still works great. Eventually I'd like to buy another one with a different color that's more neutral but this one is still great!
GREAT WATCH AFTER 6 MONTHS
This watch is great! Keeps perfect time since my purchase 6 months ago. I work in a industrial setting, making aircraft engine parts in New England, in a metal finishing department (de-burring), and I wear my watch every day. It's been banged into a 'flow-bench', knocked against my work station table, as well as being exposed to dust, dirt, metal fragments and chemicals. The watch crystal is still clear as the day it arrived, ... no scratches what-so-ever. The 'watch-band' is getting a bit funky, ... discoloration and such, but no thread loss from the seams. I prefer to say this band looks 'aged', ... but the watch is as clean as it was when first received, ... and the time runs smooth and perfectly. I've only needed to re-set it twice, ... when it arrived, ... and again when we changed to "Daylight Savings Time". I'm very happy, and who in hell needs a Rolex anyway? Certainly not me!
A great everyday watch at a great price
I bought this Timex Men's Expedition Scout 40 Watch about 1 year ago. I have owned a nearly identical one for many years and loved it, and wanted to get a second watch with the dark green strap. First, it keeps accurate time, which is important to me. Also, the face is easy to read, with the white numbers and chrome hands on the black face. I love the Indiglo back-light for movie theaters, camping, hotel rooms, outdoor evenings, etc. It is one of the main reasons I stick with Timex. The nylon strap is lightweight and comfortable, and also breaths better than stainless steel or silicone straps. I wear it nearly every day, both to work and on the weekends. For the price, you do not need to worry about scratching or damaging it. I have also gone swimming with it, and no problem with the water resistance. Since it is so lightweight and comfortable, I find myself choosing this watch over some of my larger & heavier stainless steel wristband watches, even though they are dressier and may look nicer. Normally, the battery on these watches will last several years before needing to be replaced, even with regular Indiglo use. I also really like the way this watch looks, although there are several styles to choose from in the Timex Expedition series to suit your taste. Overall, a great everyday watch.
A great watch for the price
The current time is readily available on mobile phones and other electronic devices but I have always enjoyed wearing a watch. I put this Timex on my wish list a couple years ago and my wife purchased it for me to replace a watch that no longer works. The built-in light works great for checking the time in the dark. The face is easy to read. (I gave this watch's water resistance feature five stars but I have not had reason to test this property.) I found the Amazon description to be a true representation of the watch. The colors are as represented and I really like the ivory/cream face, pewter-colored case and tan band.
This is a great watch and great value for the price. If I have one negative, it is that the date indicator is very small and difficult to read.
Had the watch about 2 weeks, honest review
Very nice watch for the price. I am licking the watch easy to set time and date, very nice look, lots of compliments. Like lost reviews I read people say it has a loud movement, but it isn't as loud as they say it is. I would agree that if you wear the watch to bed and you sleep in a quite room you will hear it, but it you have it on your dresser anywhere from 3+ feet away you will not hear the watch in a quite room. The watch doesn't bother me at night and I keep it on my nightstand. I would recommend this watch for people who want a nice watch for not a lot of money. The watch does need to have the date reset at the end of months of 29 or 31, when November ended on the 30 and December started on the first the watch thought it was the 31st so you will need to change the date every other month. cheap watches watch sale discount watches sports watches automatic watches gold watches affordable watches designer watches low price watch digital watch
